I totally slept in this morning. I knew that it was not going to be much of an adventurous day. I also was pretty comfortable and after having spent the previous night in my jeep and waking up every hour or so… yeah, I slept in.
I had my morning tea and oatmeal, something that I have been missing since arriving in Seattle. I can’t explain it, but there is something about sitting in a campsite drinking green tea (with enough honey to give you diabetes) and eating oatmeal and just observing the world around you that I really enjoy.
However eventually it was time to move on. So I broke down camp, said goodby to the family I had befriended, and I was off
The majority of my drive down the 101 was in beautiful hills and old growth forests. Honestly pictures just don’t do it justice.
I also noticed a significant number of Bigfoot related signs and shops. Random geeky thought, is big foot just a Wookiee? Sorry, but these forests still have my mind on Star Wars and the similarities between Bigfoot and a Wookiee are numerous…. just think about it, god knows I spent about hour doing so.
After leaving the forests I was very clearly in wine country. Just miles upon miles of vineyards and wine tasting rooms. It also was hot as balls. I ended up pulling over, rolling down all the windows and stripping down to nothing but a kilt. I was still dripping sweat.
That is until I came over a hill and saw the Bay Area. The temperature dropped 15 degrees almost immediately and I got to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge.
I also got stuck in the MacArthur tunnel. I had heard traffic in this city was bad, but I figured I’d make it in ok on a Saturday afternoon… but nope.
Eventually I arrived at my destination and spent the afternoon and evening catching up with Rachel. We walked around a bit (had some great views!), went out to dinner, went to see the new Jurassic World movie, and just all around chilled.
Tomorrow will be adventure time though. We are going to Alcatraz and doing other touristy things, all while Pride is going on in the city. It’ll be a great day.
